CBSE on a new high !!!!

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is on a new high. The board has added another feather to its cap as the number of students appearing for its Class 10 and 12 examinations across the country has increased remarkably in 2011, as compared to 2010.

For Class 10, CBSE has registered 14.98% increase in the number of students taking the exam in 2011, when compared to 2010.A total of 10,61,566 students are part of Class 10 exam in 2011, as against 9,02,517 students in 2010. This increase has come despite the fact that the board has, for the first time this year, given students the option of either appearing for the board exam or taking an internal exam conducted by the respective schools under the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation scheme.

Similarly for Class 12, there was a 9.20% increase in the number of students taking the exam in 2011 compared to that of 2010. About 7,69,929 class 12 students are now taking board exams, as against 6,99,129 last year.

The board has also made it mandatory that every student must obtain 75% of attendance to be eligible to sit for the exam. However, there might be up to 15% relaxation in case of illnesses or participation in national-level sports’ activities.

The Class 12 and Class 10 exams will end on April 13 and March 25, respectively.

CBSE in its latest circular has also directed its schools to ensure that teachers who have been selected for evaluation work must report to duty on time.It has also instructed to teachers (examiners) that they should be accurate in their marking system, as it amounts to professional judgment on 10 to 12 years of hard work put in by the students.

CBSE is one of the 41 boards in the country. About 11,550 schools in India are affiliated to the board. The board also has 153 affiliate schools in 23 foreign countries.
