From next year, CBSE terms to carry 50 % weightage each

The CCE was implemented in Class IX by the CBSE in October 2009. This year, when the new academic session started in April, the scheme was extended to Class X as well. According to the CCE, an academic year is divided into two terms (semesters) carrying an unequal weightage of 40 per cent and 60 per cent respectively.

Now, the CBSE has announced equal weightage for both the terms, which means that each term in an academic year will carry a weightage of 50 per cent. The unequal weightage in the two terms came into being because the scheme was introduced in the second half of the year, after the first term got over.
